Anyone who has read a Jennifer Weiner book knows the score. They are these beautiful little beach books that are quick reads. The Guy Not Taken is a little different because they are short stories. The stories are all wonderful and aren’t all happy endings. They capture relationships at all different levels which is interesting. If you’re looking for a fun read, go with this one.
If you have seen this movie, read the book because, like most movies, the book is much better. My favorite genre is tragic romance and THIS is a tragic romance. The book really brings you in and captures you in the story. I think the way it is written also keeps the reader engaged and excited. There are different story threads going on all at the same time and you just want to know when and how everything comes together. Which it does. In an incredible way. At the very end. It’s a great plane book or travel book or just a nice, fluffy relax-on-the-beach book.
